Happy January 5, 2014------And the rest of the year;) PLUS Check Your Bank and Credit Card Statements carefully!

Well folks, my New Year Wish did NOT come to be. That wish was for obamacare to be declared null and void!
I applied for the health insurance & got feedback via email, that it would take 4-8 weeks for approval. Approval!? Isn't the whole idea of this pathetic attempt at socialized medicine supposed to be "medical insurance for everybody!"? I had to see someone for med refill and was charged $195.00 for 10 minutes with a PA. I got on ehealth chat and was told to save my receipts and submit them when my insurance came through. Okay. Hopefully there will be a reimbursement, no?
I did get approved for dental and vision coverage. Dental on 1/1/14; Vision on 2/1/14. BUT, while reconciling my year end budget I noticed there was another fee subtracted from my bank account that made no sense to me. So the bank now has to research what this $41.00 fee is for.  Maybe another Merry Christmas rip off? Hope not. Check Your Bank and Credit Card Statements carefully!

Jan 1 was pretty quiet. The kids came over for menudo and posole. Made the Red chili from pods just like Momma used to make. Yummy. We always went to my Mother's/Grandpa's house on New Year's Day for menudo, posole, tamales and biscochitos.  I think I will try to keep this tradition alive in my family.
My Sis made posole, biscochitos, Mexican Wedding Cookies, and loaded mashed potatoes for Christmas. Didn't get to see her until 12/27. We had a feast while watching Brave on her 62 inch TV. Just like being in a theater;)  Posole tastes better if it has sat in the fridge for a couple of days.

Friday Bren, Dave & I went to the River of Lights display. Wow! Right on Albuquerque! The place was packed.  If you ever get to attend this amazing work of art Christmas light display-you will really enjoy it. A lot of effort and love went into that venture. Bren posted some pictures on her blog. I couldn't take any pics cause I was bundled up like a kid against the cold. Took until today to defrost my bones. But, it was worth it.
Prior to the light show we met at Thai Vegan for an early supper, They had been telling me about this restaurant cause I really miss the taste of shrimp now that I've developed an allergy to same said marine crustaceans. Anyway, this retired Chinese monk makes a tofu mixture that tastes and has the same texture as shrimp. It did indeed taste and have the same texture as sautéed shrimp. Yummy. What a treat. And healthy too. Our appetizer was giant ? wraps (almost like a lettuce wrap) called Freshy Rolls with Hoisin Sauce Dip.
I continue to unpack while maintaining an every day routine, almost, so that I can go be a "Rocker" at one of our NICUs and start back with our genealogy.
Will start retirement soon. Maybe:))
Be blessed!
