Isn't God's timing AMAZING?!

Today while unpacking more clothes to cram into the closet, I decided to take a break and read the Constitution of the United States of America. Why? Who knows? This in the face of having crochet withdrawals. More on that later.

While I was sitting & reading this amazing national document, the mailman knocked at my door. He had a certified, return receipt, stuffed envelope from my former employer. Hmmm, I said to myself. I am quite impressed that a letter stamped on 11/27/2013 in Deming, NM made it to me at approximately 2:30 PM on 11/29/2013 in Albuquerque, NM. Right on P.O. And at a hefty cost of $6.11.  Kind of fat for a one page NOTICE OF LIFE INSURANCE CONVERSION OR PORTABILITY. Interesting that there is no Notice of COBRA. But that may be a moot point with obamacare, no?

The next two pages were the EXIT INTERVIEW QUESTIONAIRE. I thought I was pretty succinct in my reason for leaving. In a little box right under the title it states:
Please help us make this hospital a better place to work by completing the following questionnaire. Your honest and candid answers are important to us. Be assured that your responses to this questionnaire are kept confidential. Once completed, this questionnaire remains on file in the Human Resources Department, and it will not be shown to anyone outside the Human Resources Department without your knowledge and approval. Your answers do not affect your future references or prospects for employment.

Bear with me here. Did I miss something in the references part of disclosure? When another employer calls for references isn't the only answer that can be given is "yes he/she works/worked here & is or is not eligible for rehire?" Someone, please, enlighten me.  Not that I will be looking for a job, but it irks me no end when I see this type of double speak. Sort of like ex-husbands.
And, if 'you' are looking to improve a place of employment, why would you keep any proposed improvements confidential?

The next part of the form asks you to PLEASE check one: Leaving voluntarily_________or involuntarily. Who in their right mind would fill this out in the face of termination?
Reason for leaving: (3 lines provided). I think a Letter of Resignation/retirement with the reason for leaving spelled out would have answered this very well.
The questions that follow are inane to say the least. One question is "Did your manager/supervisor treat you fairly?" I filed a Hostile Work Environment Complaint against my former manager. There was never any resolution. He just kept doing the same things over & over again, until I just threw my hands up in frustration at the ineptness of the system to curtail his behavior. Just kept plugging along until my retirement age came. Interesting that he still seems to have control over the department all the way from Mississippi via phone calls to staff members. So, nothing had changed with his transfer to another facility. Sad. I think of them as his minions like on Despicable Me. Buahahahaha!!!!
The second page is several lines to "provide more information on any "dissatisfied" responses from above".
If they came from above, He would have straightened it all by now.
Anyway, enough about that form. The next for is the COMPLIANCE DISCLOSURE UPON SEPARATION. This form really peaked my interest. So I communicated with four other former employees, and only one of them had received this. I am going to quote it verbatim since this is a publicly traded company, and this is not a SECRET document. According to my attorney. So here goes.

Name of Employee
Title/Position
Location of Employment
Effective Date of Separation
Reason for Separation
In connection with my separation of employment from an affiliate of Community Health Systems, Inc, ("CHS"), and pursuant to the CHS Compliance Program and CHS Code of Conduct, I represent and warrant to CHS and its affiliates, officers, owners, directors, and employees, together with each of their respective successors, assigns, heirs, and personal representatives (collectively, the "Company") that I have, at all times during my employment complied with the CHS Compliance Program and the hospital Code of Conduct. I have disclosed in writing, to the Corporate Compliance Officer any and all instances of known or suspected violations of law, rule, regulation or corporate policy by the Company. In the event the representations and warranties contained become inaccurate or untrue after hereof, I agree to notify the Corporate Compliance Officer in writing, of the necessary corrections to make the representations and warranties accurate and true, prior to initiating any whistleblower(there's that word again) or similar lawsuits, claims or disclosures to any governmental agency. I also agree to indemnify and hold Company harmless from any loss, cost, damage or penalty incurred as a result of any inaccuracy or breach of the representations, warranties or agreements herein.

I mean , seriously, who in their right mind would sign this document in the best of circumstances? To me it looks like a prison, socialist, or old coalmine workers form of "I owe my soul to the company store." way of life. NO Thank you! I am not signing any rights away to anybody for anything.

I feel that during my morning study & prayer, my Lord provides answers to questions I don't know are coming. Situations like this one require a lot thought & prayer before any action is taken

Enough said. Grandpa would be proud of me not acting the fool by calling .up and demanding answers over this idiotic turn of events. I do have a lot of what they are worried about, and it might turn into a hefty sum of money, or, more likely just let it drop on my part, and watch the same ole thing go on & on.

Buenas noches y Dios los bendige
