Stranger than fiction

Monday I was walking down the hall to my apartment and saw one of the maintenance guys coming out of my neighbor's apartment(B.B)and locking the door. I asked him if she was on vacation because  I hadn't seen her for a few days and the Newsletter hung on her door for four days. With a hushed voice he told me that she had passed away and was found on Sunday. What a shocker. She also lived alone. Actually with her three cats. Not very social. The most she would say was “Hi". She exercised in the pool almost every day. Looked very fit. We never know when God will call us home. I hope she knew Him.
My neighbor from downstairs came over & told me that B.B. had left her car parked haphazardly and looked like it had some damage on the passenger side. This was BB pride and joy. And other than her cats, she had no family,
The benefits of her cats was I hadn't seen a bug in my apartment until a week after the cats were trapped.
So waiting for an announcement of services.

My Sis and I saw our Aunt last week. Char made pinto beans and verdolagas for her. But stopped at KFC for biscuits. Auntie loved to sing, as does most of my family. I was able to record her as she sang songs by Mahalia Jackson, Lola Beltran, and the song by our great-grand uncle Iraclio Vernal. We also giggled about some of the mischievous things we did during our respective childhoods while Sis visited with several women in the recreation area of the nursing home. Sis even fed one of the ladies who said she missed simple home cooking. Our visit was welcomed and enjoyable.

FIESTA!
After the visit we went to the San Felipe de Neri FIESTA in Old Town. I had told Sis that my last fiesta was about thirteen years ago. She was reluctant to go, at first. The trade off was a Saturday at the Fairground Flea Market. Anyway, the fiesta was ok. Much smaller than it used to be. The carnival was set up in the Plaza! There was the Spanish musicale emanating from the gazebo. Loved seeing all the dancers. Wish I was able to dance.
I wanted a Sno-Cone. We ended up eating an Indian Taco, of course. Go to a Spanish Fiesta for an Indian Taco.
But it was fun:)

FLEA MARKET:
Saturday we went to the New Mexico Expo Flea Market. It is huge. We had gone to find a lady that sold new blouses for $5.00. She wasn't there. SO we looked around for a few hours and headed to the Casino for a late lunch. We both applied for membership to get the 15% discount. Can you imagine? I had a Ahi Tuna Wrap. It was delicious and cheap. $5.99 with about 1/2 lb of tuna. Yummy. Costs more than that at the grocery store.

In between all that...we went for mani/pedi, supper at Budai Gourmet Chinese, BBQ at Rudy's.

Met with Uncle Eddie and Earl. I met Earl's grandson who is very interested in genealogy. Should him some research books. He's starting the 8th grade soon. I am pleased that he wants to know about who his ancestors were. And, everything that goes along with all history.

Won't even comment on our elected officials. 'nuff said!
Be blessed.
