I Love Genealogy!! Lady Gaga?!?! Olympics--Yay!

Tuesday I spent another 3 hours with Uncle Eddie(81 y/o) showing him old pics I was able to save from my mother's attic. One of the pics is a 60+ year old pic of Aunt Maria's wedding picture. Aunt Rufina was her Matron of Honor. I was named after these to women(English version) who passed way to young. The picture is in the original wood frame with a convex glass, so can't scan without distorting. Eddie just kept running his fingers over the glass saying, "This is Maria and Rufina." He really showed how much he loved his sisters still. They married brothers. Maria married Johnny. Rufina married Faustino.
The 2nd pic is of Grandpa Julian's mother Elesta. This 80+ year-old pic is in pieces--trying to find someone to restore it. Showed it to Eddie. We compared it against a pic of my Mom about the same age. Mom definitely is the spitting image. Eddie said that Grandpa never talked about his mother or father with him. Thankfully, my penchant for wanting to know everything about my ancestors resulted in Grandpa answering my very pointed questions. Maybe he thought I wouldn't remember all the things he told me. But, I heard a commentator say that our memories are stored in the brain, and, when we have quiet time away from any input (like 'puters, iPhone, TV, radio, other people) those memories come flooding back.
Need to get with Auntie Alice to record her memories. She's 85.

Also Facebook friended a 2nd cousin who lives in CA. What a small world. Alicia is very into genealogy and is related through my Grandpa's brother. We are sharing stories and memories. Hopefully more of the ancestral mystery will be solved.

Wednesday spent time with my cousins Cyn & Rosalie. OMG! We shared as much as we knew about our ancestors, laughed, cried and shared a meal. Cyn hasn't moved her Mom's picture albums to her house. She told me that one time her Uncle Frank took the albums to Phoenix with him. Her mom, Esther, got on a train to Phoenix and brought the album(s) back to Albuquerque. Thank God. Also met Cyn's grandson. He is smart as a whip. He's in 2nd grade doing Alliteration & multiplication. His vocabulary is impressive.
Rosalie has original documents which she wants me to look at. What a treasure! Can hardly wait to set a time for checking the docs.

Watched the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. He's doing a great job. So funny. First time seeing Lady Gaga perform. What a freak. Looks like a female Boy George. Just saying.

I was very concerned about sending our Olympic competitors to Russia. But, I must admit they appear to be safe. Am enjoying the media coverage. Go USA!!!

It's windy in ABQ. The air smells like dirt. Yuck!

Have a blessed day in the Lord:)
