Saturday my sister Char & nephew Josh showed up in Deming to help me move back home to Albuquerque. Anna has been helping me pack during the previous days. On Saturday 2 of her sons came to help us load. Everything was going smoothly for most part. Then it became chaotic. Yep, folks. NO supervisor to watch the intricacies of proper workflow. Much like the job I just left. More on that later. Anyway, because of the impending snow storm we loaded my junk, tied, retied, secured again, and finally started on down the road. made it as far as Nutt, NM & had to turn back to Deming. Couldn't see the road because of the heavy snow fall. And one of my mattresses wanted to fly to Albuquerque:) By this time we had stopped 5 times to secure the load. I think God put it on my heart to be safe. Albuquerque would be there when we arrived at the appointed time. We stayed at the Comfort Inn for 2 nights. Loved it. Sleep, relax, eat, shop and sleep again. Monday was like waking up from a long, bad dream. Have you ever felt like that? Weird.
We left Deming around 9 AM & arrived at my apartment about 2:30 PM. I AM HOME! A young man came by and asked if we needed any help. His name is Nathan. he helped unload the heaviest stuff. Then left. I think God sent him because he knew Dave was on his way and there was no way Josh & 2 old women could move the really heavy stuff. The only casualty was my dresser mirror which weighs about 80 lbs. One side got cracked & the base ripped off. Nothing that a little Gorilla Glue can't take care of. No?
Today is Wednesday. The day before Thanksgiving. I will be having my holiday meal with my kids at my son Rudy's. Feel more and more awake the longer I work at unpacking and organizing. I even set my Christmas tree up in my balcony. It's all lit up but not decorated yet. Lots of balconies here are lit up for Christmas. makes my heart smile:)
I have so much to be thankful for. Recent divorce, my retirement, great people I've met over the years, relatively healthy, my family, and on and on. God bless you all and have a wonderful Thanksgiving Day!
About the job I just left...there is a person there using the RRT credential in the face of not having earned such. I wonder if when the "typo" was noted, why wasn't it corrected. Oh silly me. Could that maybe be favoritism, or plain ignorance, or plain stupidity, or heaven forbid, actual misrepresentation of an honored, hard earned national credential? Or, maybe, they just don't know that it's against the law. Sort of like an LVN, CNA or other person representing themselves as an RN. Hmmm
