While reading American Sniper, which by the way is a great book, Chris Kyle wrote how sometimes laughter would break out at the most bizarre times. "high anxiety with bizarre events and random comic relief" That was a way to let off some steam and stress in their lives. God bless them. Those of us that have worked in high stress jobs have that ability. It's either cry, be mad, or laugh. I think it's an asset in the medical field which can quickly resemble a mini war zone. I'm glad the bastard that murdered Chris got a life sentence.
Whether physical, verbal or just plain asshole behavior, man's inhumanity to man never ceases to amaze me. Have you been taken advantage of? Who hasn't, right? Age has taught me patience for the art of "payback" while watching someone waiting for the other shoe to drop. Is this Christian behavior? NO! Is the person making your life miserable by passive-aggressive behavior and not keeping their word acting like a Christian? NO! But sometimes a person has to do what a person has to do, no? Hopefully in the process learning not to go there again. What do they say about snowballs in hell? Then.... get the comic relief.
The middle of the night Aha moments for me are usually due to some inconsequential subject. Something like a movie star's name, a movie title, or where you laid that "special" item. Maybe that's why I prefer animated movies. Although, sometimes it's an "I can kick my butt for being a fool" moment. Or, that witty comeback to an inappropriate comment. So much brain power for such useless moments.
Phone numbers:
Before cell phones, caller ID and internet I could remember peoples names, addresses, phone numbers, family members and even most birthdays. No more. I recently purchased a new phone and some of my contact list did not migrate from my old cell. Aargh! So typing in and checking for appropriateness is a daily chore.
I was visiting with a cousin and she was lamenting all the things she once had. I asked her if she remembers Grandpa Julian saying "que es en la vida tener bacin de oro para orinar sangre?" We both had an Aha! moment.
Taxes and obamaScare: Been working on my taxes and have to pay. Knew I would so I deliberately did not pay any taxes last year. Except for purchases. I am sick of paying taxes. Got my first job at 15, worked off and on until 1976 when I started my 36 years in the medical field. Paid taxes all those years. So, I refused to pay last year. Gave cash to my church, ACLJ and random people on the street. I'll be emailing my taxes on April 14;)) Of course, I did have to pay for obamaScare coverage. But some such occurrences are unavoidable.
Milestones: My oldest son turned 47 this year!! We had dinner at Sadie's. Nice visit.
The great-granddaughter turned 7!!! Wasn't she just 3?
My Sis and I went to Route 66 Casino for the $6.99 meal last week. I placed a 20 cent bet and got a random jackpot of $60.00! Cashed out, went to another machine, placed a 25 cent bet and won $75.00!! All in all a great day. The food wasn't bad either;)
Had lunch at Macaroni Grill with a friend from Deming. Great visit.
Spent the past 4 days visiting with a Gretchen, Great company and laughter. We got to practice our "righteous indignation" skills. And laugh about it=:O Drove out to see the elk ranch. Magnificent animals. Home cooked meals were yummy, and I got to bring some home too:) We went to a bakery/deli that servies the most wonderful sandwiches and apple fritters. Wonder what kind other kind of mischief we'll get into? She has a great Jacuzzi bathtub. AAaahh! so peaceful
And how was your weekend?
Have a great week. Pray for our persecuted brothers and sisters, our country, and yourselves. May Christ Jesus light your path.
