Familia:
I was taught on my Grandpa Julian's lap to accept my family with all our gifts, warts, beauty, dumb or smart. I can truly say that I love my family. La sangre no se niega.
Some family members that I haven't seen in a long time will hopefully choose to participate in our ever expanding descendant tree. Whether some of my blood relatives choose to participate, or not, is entirely up to them and I will respect their wishes. Because that is also something my Gramp's taught me. To respect and accept my family just as they are. And defend that. Get my drift, familia?
As most of them know, I do not even approach perfection. But, I love to see and talk with my family. Almost every visit ends with laughter and good feelings.
Other things that fill my heart are:
seeing the mountains every day. Even on pajama days;) I just lean a little over my balcony.
reading facebook posts of love and happiness
waking up and realizing I'm RETIRED:)
the price of gasoline these days
new tires
a roof over my head
warm blankets/afghans
marking PAID on my bills
my computer, of course
my friends
spaghetti;)
yarn
books
music, and earbuds
shopping with my daughter and/or sister
The list is endless
'
My heart is with Earl's daughters, grandsons, son-in-law and other "immediates". Our part of the family tree is dying off. As it should be. My hope is that the next generation know one another.
Thank You Lord for the many blessings You honor me with.
Well. My sister's shoulder repair is coming along. But she broke her wrist when she tripped! Good thing it wasn't a bad break. She picked a light blue cast. Totally putting off my request for a hot pink cast:( But, at least she didn't pick the NEON green:)
Another Christmas memory:
My brother Floyd had become suspicious of who Santa Claus really was. The gifts from Santa were never wrapped. We would find them under the tree on Christmas morning. One Christmas Eve he kept waking up and asking me if Santa had arrived while he was sleeping. I have been an insomniac all my life, so it was easy for me to pretend that I was sleeping. After about the third time he woke up I told him I heard someone in the kitchen. He jumped out of bed, ran into the kitchen, caught our mother red-handed, and yelled, "Aha! I knew there wasn't a Santa Claus. I knew it! I knew it!" Mom was so shocked she just busted out laughing. And, of course, admonished him to not spoil it for the younger kids.
Que Floyd:) A few days later he realized that now we would only get one gift. Too funny as I remember that scene now:))
I hope your days are filled with love, laughter, joy, fond memories, and giving thanks for your many blessings.
