Actually I haven't even thought about blogging since I last posted that my boss had left. He transferred to another one of the chain hospitals. Then I looked at the date & realized that I had better get into shape to return to work. Hoping it would be a peaceful environment, finally!
A tech was made interim Director when he left. And, by the time I returned to work on Aug 30, she had been made Director. Good for her. I hope she holds up.
My sister, daughter & I went to yard sales just before my boss left. We just drove around Deming looking for the never ending "Yard" or "Garage Sale" signs and stopped in. One of those was my ex-boss. I didn't want to stop, but my sis wanted to see what they would be getting rid of. She collects Americana and probably thought they would have something worth buying. Anyway, his wife and step-daughter were very cordial. And he was his usual ******** self. Both my sis and daughter said I was lucky he was moving because they were not impressed by his rude behavior. Needless to say-----NO sale:)
We did stop at a yard sale that had YARN! I am a yarn hoarder. Not really. I just have a lot of yarn and like to make things. Crochet. Do you know that no one has invented a machine that can crochet? Impressive. Sad to say that the yard sale items had belonged to one of our patients who passed away. Her passion was also crocheting. R.I.P ND.
To get into shape I had to be faithful to do my 45 minute physical therapy routine every morning & the 10-15 minute routines twice a day. I opted to walk every day in either Wal-Mart or K-mart in place of the short ones. It was really hard at first to get to the stores. The biggest problem was getting into my car. My daughter & Dave had modified a plastic step tool by melting holes in the upper corners, putting grommets in the holes, and tying twine through 2 sections. Then we bought a dowel and screwed hooks into the ends. I use the step stool to get into my car then use the dowel end hooks to pull the stool up. Works great!
Hasn't hurt that I've had to mow the lawn and cut weeds in the back yard and alley twice this past month. Wish my neighbors would do their half of the alley. All this rain makes the desert green. Desert weeds grow fast! The best thing, of course, is we need the water. Thank You Lord!
The second best thing is the teeny tiny frogs that emerge during our monsoon. They are so cute! I must have moved 15 of these one-inch marvels from the path of the lawn mower. Hope all the grackles haven't eaten them all now that they are more exposed.
I remember how much fun it was to hoe, weed and water with my grandfather. It's no fun when you have to do it by yourself.
But, God willing, I will retire by Feb 2014 at the latest and move back home. Although, the possibility of working another year looms on the horizon.
Wish I had pictures for some of the tools of hip replacement recovery. Which are: walker, cane, sock puller x 2, reachers x 2, a bed tray, slippery or at least 700 count sheets to slide out of bed easily, raised toilet seat, modified shoes or lifts, and medication. Forget about cutting your own toe nails. Save money for a once-a-month pedi. Unless your nails grow faster than mine;)
Happy Labor Day All!
Glad to see you're blogging again--and that you're doing your PT routine and then some. That'll help.
ReplyDeletePeople at the studio were asking about you. They're impressed that you're already back at work.
Where are the frogs coming from? Is there a ditch or something near you?
Love you,
Bren.
Hi,
DeleteI'm amazed that I am working. Being almost broke & wanting to retire are great motivators:)
These are desert frogs that only come out when we get a lot of rain. Had a shallow pond in the back yard 3 days ago. And, the front yard rose area is usually moist. Wish I could post some pictures. These are the hummingbirds of the frog world.
Love you,
Mom
