Today is my daughter's birthday. She got home in time to celebrate with friends & her partner. I linked her blog to mine so you all may enjoy a different, experienced blogger's perspective. She had flowers waiting for her when she got home. We had flowers in the house most of the time she was here. Nothing like blooms to brighten an almost barren house.
I am so grateful she was able to come take care of me. Sad to say that I miss her wonderful approach to nutrition. Fresh everything. I got spoiled.
Thankfully my sis came just before Bren left. Her specialty is organize, pack, garage sales & tacos. Interestingly enough, we didn't have one taco while she was here. But she is coming again this week, so.......Tacos at Tacos Mirasol with the best limonadas(?) I have ever tasted. Plus a yard sale.
I also want to tell you about some of my very driven friends. My 2 best friends in Albuquerque are both Respiratory Therapists like myself.
One of them just became an RN and is thrilled that she will not be working nights, holidays or weekends "Ever again". That's because she took a job in an outpatient surgical clinic. Lucky her;)
The other one travels every week to her out of town job. She's on 6 days & off 8 days. She's kind of freaked out because she just passed the big 5-0. Laughed when I told I'd be dancing on the roof if I was just 50!
Which brings me to another story about my Grampa Julian. He loved to dance. he taught me how to waltz, polka & of course, the most popular Mexican dance----ranchera! I never could master the Samba:( When I was little I would "dance" with him; standing on his shoes just like in the commercials of little girls dancing with their dads. As I go older we would polka all around the kitchen until he would say enough.
Being a 60s child I also danced anything that was popular at the time. Once I tried to teach my Gramps the Jerk & he laughed so hard. Said it looked like we were milking giant cows. After trying to explain the rhythm to him he just wasn't interested. Said it was just a fad. Was he ever right! Have any of you seen anybody doing the Jerk, Mashed Potato, Funky Chicken, or other dances of that era? But go to a wedding or Latino party & you will see people dancing the classics.
I loved going to family gatherings where there was music. I would dance with every male there. From the 3 year olds to the oldest who could still move. Wish this "new " hip didn't prevent dancing.
What a wonderful gift to give a grandchild. The love of dance.
I think once your hip heals you should take some dance lessons! Maybe ballroom or tango. Dave and I will join you. ;)
ReplyDeleteTango is hard even for am athlete. A simple waltz will suit me:)
